Experience the Fun and Value of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort – Part 1

Opened in 2012, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is the newest resort on Walt Disney World property.  Originally the property was meant to be an extension of the nearby Pop Century Resort, but when it came time to build, minds had changed.

This property is the only resort considered a “Value Plus” by Disney – reasonably priced, but made up of spacious family suites (for parties up to 6), large food court and wonderfully themed pools.

There are four themed areas of the resort.  Cars Family Suites, Finding Nemo Family Suites, Lion King Family Suites – all with interior hallways.  The Little Mermaid standard rooms have exterior walkways and are very similar to other Value resort rooms.

A lot of the “action” takes place inside Animation Hall.  This building houses the front desk check-in area, arcade, gift shop and food court.

When you enter Animation Hall, you are treated to this beautiful front desk and guest services area.  This colorful display reminds you of paints on an artist’s palette.

The wall opposite check-in depicts the evolution of animated drawings – from concept sketches, pencil drawings, all the way to their recognizable final versions.

The stunning chandelier in the middle of the hall is really special.  It includes sketches of favorite animated films.  If you look very closely, you will see that some of the sketches are signed by the artists.

Pixel Play Arcade

If your family is taking a “day off’ from the parks or if you have had enough fun and sun, the Pixel Play Arcade is a great place to catch up on some video game play.

Landscape of Flavors

Landscape of Flavors is the main food court at Art of Animation and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Landscape of Flavors features 5 food areas that serve made-to-order cuisine.

Everything is fresh and hot and it is a real step-up from the average food court. You eat with real silverware, not plastic and the service is great.  There is always a Cast Member available to clear off a table or help carry food if your hands are too full.

Tip:  If you get bored with the food offerings at Landscape of Flavors, visit the food court at the Pop Century Resort.  It is only a short walk over the bridge to get to the other resort.

If you want to eat in your room/suite, to-go containers are available, and in-room pizza delivery is also an option.

Aren’t these special waffles cute?  Instead of Mickey waffles, the food court at Art of Animation serves Lion King, Little Mermaid, Cars and Nemo themed waffles – to go with the areas of the resort.
