In honor of National Ice Cream Day, we had to honor some of the best Ice Cream at Walt Disney World. There are so many different ways to get your ice cream fix in Walt Disney World that we had to feature some of our very favorites.
Without a doubt, our kids’ favorite Disney treat is the iconic “Mickey Bar”. Premium vanilla ice cream dipped in rich chocolate – there is nothing not to like here.
Just be sure to get lots of napkins!
Another kid favorite is the “Mickey Ice Cream Cookie Sundae” found at Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Disney’s Animal Kingdom park. It is simple, but so cute and yummy. A scoop of vanilla ice cream, two chocolate cookies and Mickey sprinkles make a great pick-me up.
This next dessert isn’t really billed as ice cream, but look at that mountain of vanilla deliciousness… The Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake at the Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom is at the top of my list for ice cream desserts.
Right up there with the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake, is the ‘Ohana Bread Pudding a la mode and topped with warm Bananas Fosters Sauce. Yum… Just, yum.
No Walt Disney World ice cream list would be complete without featuring the famous Dole Whip. This treat is dairy-free, so not really ice cream, but still refreshing and creamy.
Beaches and Cream, a small ice cream shop in the Beach Club Resort, is the home of several tremendous frozen concoctions. In addition to the enormous “Kitchen Sink”, they have the prettiest Strawberry Shortcake Sundae that I have ever seen…
… and the Fudge Mud Slide. Chocolate Heaven.
My favorite – the No Way Jose. So much peanut butter goodness…
Kids can get their very own Mickey Mouse Sundae if those other treats are a bit too much for little tummies.
Almost hidden in a corner of the France Pavilion of Epcot is a wonderful ice cream boutique called L’Artisan des Glaces. They serve hand-crafted treats that you won’t find in your neighborhood shop.
Have you tried the Croque Glace? Ice cream served inside a homemade Brioche roll – pressed down in a special contraption so that it is warm on the outside and cold on the inside?
Also available is the unique Macaron. Take the famous french cookie but instead of traditional buttercream or jam, this large sandwich cookie is filled with ice cream!
When you want the ice cream to be the star of the show, take a trip to Disney’s BoardWalk area and pick up a treat at the Ample Hills Creamery. They offer an amazing variety of flavors. It is so hard to choose! Some of our favorites…
Some of the strangest ways I have tried ice cream have been at Walt Disney World as well. At the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party I had an “out of this world” make my own sundae. The Cast Member actually made my ice cream right in front of my eyes in a bowl cooled with dry ice.
Do you think that these choices are some of the best ice cream at Walt Disney World? Any way you like your ice cream, you will find a great option. Enjoy!!!
