Epcot International Festival of the Holidays: Focus on Canada and the UK

The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays is a new celebration for 2017 and it blends the ideas from Epcot’s past Holidays Around the World with the newer festivals that include food kiosks and seasonal traditions from different parts of the globe.  In our last post we focused on the celebration in the France pavilion.  Now we are taking a closer look at the Canada and United Kingdom pavilions.

As you wander thought World Showcase, it is just so pretty and serene.  The holiday decorations are not over-the-top – they just fit so well with the World Showcase surroundings.

The “Holiday Kitchens” that are open during the festival are a lot of fun and bring new flavors to each pavilion.  In Canada, they have the Yukon Holiday Kitchen.

Here you can try some holiday tastes from our Northern neighbors. Seafood and French-Canadian flavors are highlighted.

We enjoyed the Seared Salmon (with a Crown Royal Maple Whisky Glaze, Parsnip Silk, Apple Chutney and Hazelnut Croquant) and the Traditional French Canadian Toutier with Canadian Ketchup.  Delicious!

It is hard to pass up a wine flight, so we also tried the ice wine flight – which gave us a taste of each of the ice wine selections – Cabernet Franc, Neige Apple, and Riesling.

More beautiful poinsettias line the pathway as you walk into the United Kingdom pavilion.

I just loved this giant tea service display.  We have these holiday dishes at home (although a lot smaller!) so it was fun to see this.

Epcot International Festival of the Holidays: Focus on France

There is never a dull moment at Epcot, where it seems that as soon as one wonderful festival ends, another begins!  One of our favorite times to visit Walt Disney World is during the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays.

As we make our way into the France pavilion, Belle may just be there to say “hello” – and she is decked out in her holiday dress!  So pretty!

and scrumptious French holiday pastries like Buche de Noel (a cake shaped like a Yule Log).

We love the storytellers who teach guests about the holiday traditions from the different counties. It is so much fun to wander from pavilion to pavilion and caching these shows.  Be sure to check your times guides so you see as many as possible.  In France, Pere Noel (Father Christmas) tells stories that enthrall children and adults.

The new festival brings the very popular holiday kitchens to the country pavilions.  In France, you will find the Alsace Holiday Kitchen – where you can sample a few seasonal dishes.

Our favorite treat was the Holiday Kir (sparkling wine with cranberry syrup).   Cheers!
